Payton was born and raised in St. George, Utah. Before graduating from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Arts, Payton lived in Tijuana, Mexico for two years.

Payton attended the University of Nebraska College of Law in Lincoln, Nebraska. Go Huskers! During his time at the University of Nebraska College of Law, Payton participated in the Weibling Entrepreneurship Clinic, where he helped successfully appeal a trademark application that had previously been denied twice, assisted in the creation of business entities, and helped teach community members more about business formation. He also participated in the Family Law Clinic where he gained experience in divorce issues, such as custody, child support, spousal support, and property division.

 

After graduation, Payton moved to Millard County to practice law with his wife, Elise, and father-in-law, Richard.

Throughout his career, Payton has become experienced in entity formation, family law, probate, and estate planning.
