Elise was born and raised in Delta, Utah. She has looked up to her dad, Richard, for as long as she can remember. She is not sure when, or if, she made the conscious decision to become an attorney. It was something she was always working toward.​

Elise attended Snow College, graduating with her Associate of Arts degree, then attended Southern Utah University, graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree. Elise served as President of the Legal Studies Student Association, and in the Spring of 2016, she was awarded the Outstanding Student in the Political Science and Criminal Justice Department. It was during her Criminal Law class at SUU, Elise first spoke to her future husband, Payton. After graduating from SUU, Elise and Payton, attended the University of Nebraska College of Law, where Elise graduated with high distinction. During her time at UNL, Elise participated in both the Family Law Clinic and the Criminal Clinic. During law school, she clerked at the Lancaster County Attorney's Office where she performed legal research and writing to assist attorneys in preparation for legal proceedings, wrote appellate briefs regarding juvenile delinquencies and child welfare matters, and prepared for grand jury proceedings and oral arguments. She enjoyed law school and she enjoyed her time in Nebraska.

 

After graduation, Elise returned to Millard County to practice law with her dad, Richard, and husband, Payton.
